The service

Madeira Orçamentos is a free community forum and directory for Madeira and Porto Santo: buy and sell, give things away, ask for a service or offer yours, and find local professionals. It is published by Cristian A. (see the legal notice).

Using the site is free during the launch period. Paid features for service providers and advertisers (for example €0.10 per contact or reply) may be introduced later. They will be announced at least 30 days in advance, will never apply retroactively, and will never apply to private individuals who post, buy or give things away.

Your account

  • You must be at least 18 years old.
  • One account per person. Give accurate information and keep your sign-in email secure.
  • You can delete your account at any time from your account page.

What you can publish

Post in the right section, in English, Portuguese or another language, with honest descriptions and photos of the actual item. It is forbidden to publish:

  • anything illegal in Portugal, including stolen or counterfeit goods, weapons, drugs, medicines and animals for sale;
  • services that require a licence you do not hold (for example taxi rides or electrical work, where a licence is required);
  • scams, requests for payment in advance, pyramid schemes, misleading or duplicate posts, and spam;
  • hateful, violent, discriminatory, sexual or harassing content;
  • other people's personal data or photos without their consent.

You remain the owner of what you publish. You allow Madeira Orçamentos to display, store and adapt it (for example, resize photos) to run the service, for as long as it is online.

Moderation

Each member's first post or reply is checked by us before it appears; after that, posts are published straight away. We may hide or remove content, and suspend or close accounts, when they break these terms or the law. When we do, we tell you the reason and how to contest the decision (reply to our email and we will look at it again).

Reporting content

Every post and reply has a "Report" button. Anyone, with or without an account, can also report illegal content by writing to hello@madeiraorcamentos.com, with the link to the content and why it is illegal. We handle reports diligently and tell the person who reported what we decided, if they gave an email address.

Deals between members

Sales, gifts and services are agreed directly between members: Madeira Orçamentos is not a party, does not handle payments and does not guarantee items, services or members. Meet in public places, check items before paying, and never send money in advance to someone you do not know.

Liability

We do our best to keep the site available and its content lawful, but we cannot guarantee that posts are accurate or that the site is always available. Nothing in these terms limits your rights as a consumer.

Changes and applicable law

We may update these terms; significant changes are announced on the site before they apply. These terms are governed by Portuguese law.
